1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us such as name, contact information, medical/clinical license number(s) (if applicable), passwords and security data, and payment information. 

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when registering at the Services, expressing an interest in obtaining information about us or our Services, and/or when participating in activities on the Site/Services or otherwise contacting us.

The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and our Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you will use. The personal information we collect can include the following:

  • Name and Contact Data:We may collect your first name, last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and similar contact information. 
  • Credentials: We collect passwords, usernames, password hints, and similar information used for authentication and account access. If you are licensed medical/social services professional taking one of our courses for continuing education credits (CEUs), we also collect your license number(s) and state of licensure for certification requirements.
  • Payment Data: We collect data necessary to process your payment if you make a purchase; such as a payment instrument number (such as a credit card number), and the security code associated with your payment instrument. All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.

How long we retain your data:If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Embedded content from other websites: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

We will keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, unless a longer retention is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose in this policy will require us keeping personal information for longer than 6 years past the termination of the user’s account.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

5. DO WE COLLECT DATA FROM MINORS? 

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under the age of 18. 

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, some information may be retained in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our Terms of Use and/or comply with any legal requirements.

Opting out of email marketing.You can unsubscribe from our marketing email list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send or by contacting us or using the details provided below. You will then be removed from the marketing email list — however, we will still need to send you service-related emails that are necessary for the administration and use of your account. 7. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and some mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preferences not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy policy.

8. DO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS HAVE ANY SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS? 

In Short:Yes. If you are a resident of California, you are granted specific rights regarding access to your personal information. 

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.
